Entablado

Santacruzan 1985; I am the Constantino
The entablado or the stage of Catmon Town Plaza (now Pedro J. Monsanto Sports  and Cultural Complex) played a major part of every Catmonanon's life. Whether 'twas just for a social program or the commencement exercises in Elementary or High School , most of the Catmonanons, if not all, had experienced the honor and pride of being there. From my Yaya Luz Flores Day Care days, to my Catmon Central Elementary era, and up to my G.J.F.S. years, the entablado was always the final platform of the various memorable presentations and events.

The old stage had its unique architectural design. It had a hemispheric shape and was really a work of art. Each year, I was so excited to witness how Cebuano artists painted murals on the wall of the stage with different Catmon sceneries. I don't know if there is a similar stage that can be found in Cebu with a design like that since I haven't seen one in my lifetime.
EMCEE : Catmon Summer League:  The Inter-Barangay Tournament 2012

Last May 6, 2012, I was invited to host the opening of the the Catmon Summer League:  The Inter-Barangay Tournament 2012 . When I was on the stage, at the beginning I had this weird feeling that I didn't belong, the area is now bigger and very different from the entablado that I was familiar with. I sat in the corner for a while a tried to reminisce all  the sweet memories I had with the old entablado. The smiles I had for remembering the beautiful  things which happened to me on the old entablado made me relaxed a little bit, and eventually made me enjoy my hosting job. But still, I missed the old entablado!!!

But If we think of the practicality of the new stage and the complex in general, then we can say that it is perfect for the modern Catmonanons. First, it can hold more people, second, the structures and amenities can accommodate modern shows and events and most of all, it has better maintenance and care.

Let us take good care of our new sports complex as we loved and cherished our old town plaza!!! And for all of us who had witnessed the grandeur of our old entablado, let's just keep the memories in our hearts and share it with the younger generations...
